Woohooo! Some exciting plans! I am happy to announce that I will be at the Gatsby Summer Afternoon in September (enroute to visit my family)! I am so excited to join Mena and others in this fun event put on by the Art Deco Society of California!
So, I need your help--what pattern should I make for the event? By looking at pictures from past years, I think I will opt for something with short sleeves!
Here are my options:
1. McCall 7739: View B
2. Simplicity 1442:
3. McCall 5018: But maybe with short sleeves?
4. McCall 7403: Any of the views:
5. Butterick 5268 version C with my initials embroidered and a 30's style skirt:
Will you be there? Let me know!!
Also, tell me your top choice for my outfit--just vote in the poll on the right side bar! Can't wait to see which one you all choose!
Can't choose, all of them are heavenly!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds so fun I wish I was going to be there too but I live a bit far. I am torn between the McCalls 7403 (love those yoke fronts that you see in the 30's) and the Simplicity 1442. I think my vote is for the 7403.
ReplyDelete7403 is the one that made me go "ooooooooooh"
ReplyDeleteI am going and definitely wearing 30s rather than 20s. I have voted for the 7403. Now I have to get off my duff figure out what I am going to make.
ReplyDeleteFirst pattern, 7739 - version 1. Very chic for a summer afternoon.
ReplyDeleteOh man, I would love to go. But, I am in Los Angeles -- and I have Redken Specialist class that day (I am a hairdresser). Wish I could though, looks fun!!!
Definitely 4. McCall 7403 - would look perfect on you!
ReplyDeleteI´m looking forward to seeing event photos.
Heh, the crowd is rooting for 7403 - and I am too. Considering this is California, I'd go with the flutter sleeved version.
ReplyDeleteSimplicity 1442 is absolutely beautiful! My vote is for Simplicity 1442! Oh but the sleeves on View A on McCall's 7403 are beautiful too! Okay, I'm torn between the two. It is a coin toss between Simplicity 1442 and View A of McCall's 7403. And the winner is... drats! [coin rolls under the fridge]
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a fun time, have fun at the event and while visiting family!
Wow, how exciting for you Debi! I voted for McCall 7403, but I equally love McCall 7739...beautiful, I can't wait to see what you make!!!
ReplyDeleteDifficult decision! I really love McCall 7739 - but they are all lovely. I am sure that whichever one you choose will look perfect!
ReplyDeleteI vote McCall 7403 - View B specifically because those sleeves are just divine! How exciting that you get to go to this event!!
ReplyDeleteOh, Debi! They are all beautiful! I adore McCall's 7403, View B or Simplicity 1442 - I love the blousey sleeves. :)
ReplyDelete7739! from the three buttons at the neckline with bow, to the hip detailing and the flare of the hem, in any fabric it is Vintage, but also contemporary. What a wonderful trip, can't wait to hear the details.
ReplyDeleteDebi, I'm sure all the looks would look wonderful. My vote is for the 1st look.
ReplyDelete4. really has a wow-factor going on. All your choices have interesting details, but this one has interesting designlines as well. However, as you have excellent taste as proven by your beautiful evening gown, I'm sure that whatever you make will be great.
ReplyDeleteReally, we have to pick only one? They're gorgeous. Can't you just make all of them and do some mad costume changes? No... Ok 1 and 5 are my favourite, but I think you'd look sassy in any of them.
ReplyDeleteI too need to get on my Gatsby planning. I don't even know what I have in my stash. I'll be heading to the picnic as well, so I will be sure and stop by with a hello!
ReplyDeleteI am loving McCalls 7403 or Butterick 5268.
ReplyDeleteI voted for #1, but #4 was my second choice and I see it's clearly ahead. They are definitely both my favorites of the bunch. What a fun event!
ReplyDeleteDebi.. I think Mccalls 7403...It looks like you.. Cant wait to see ,what you choose. So proud your getting to go.. Hope you have lots of fun..
ReplyDeleteIt was a tough choice but I went with the first one because of the double buttoned skirt front. Like a sailor, only sweeter. And I thought you could have some fun with different materials.
ReplyDeleteOh what pretties! Love! Can't wait to see one of them made up. :-)
ReplyDeleteI was going to vote 4 but I think you already have something with similar sleeves - the Eva Dress pattern jacket. So I vote 1 view B, which also has interesting sleeves. I think the angular pattern would suit you. Whatever you choose will no doubt look wonderful as always!
ReplyDeleteI love Simplicity 1442 the sleeves are fabulous! But McCalls 7403 comes in a very close second. I'm sure which ever one you make you will look absolutely devine!
ReplyDeleteVOTED! and how do yo have so many lovely patterns. Jealous :) xx
ReplyDeleteI'm with the crowd in this one, no 4, 7403, with the flutter sleeves.
ReplyDeleteI have to say no1 and no5 are really, really pretty too (well, they ALL are). Lucky girl, you have such nice patterns to choose from!
Definitely the first one, I voted x
ReplyDeleteI really like the simplicity pattern. The jacket would be fun to do as an accent piece.
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool Debbi that you are going to Gatsby!I want to go too.We should do a bloggers meet up there. That would be fun.
ReplyDeleteoh man. 2 or 5? you'd make them all screamingly brilliant!
ReplyDeleteIt'll be so much fun to go to Gatsby! I love both 1 (blue stripes) and 4!
ReplyDeleteI coose on! :) these stripes make such a slim figure! :)
ReplyDeleteVery interesting Patterns! :) It would be nice to sea the actual pattern pieces...if you would like please scan back of envelope too! :) this would be very interesting for any sewing passionate!
All of these patterns are divine! I love #1 and #4 since they are so feminine and chic. Good luck picking one out! :)
ReplyDeleteOh, yes! The first, first, please!! It's lovely, so feminine!! Love, love it!
ReplyDelete7739, would really suit your figure. But 7703 with the flutter sleves would also be beautiful. I just think the first one would be great on you.
ReplyDeleteHope we see the end result!
McCall 7403 View B is my favorite! How exciting that you will get to attend!
ReplyDeleteHi Debi!! I didn't know you're going to Gatsby!!! I wish I was going to still be out in CA for it (you're not going to the ADSLA Queen Mary even the weekend before, are you?). Anyway, I LOVE #1. Sooo cute! Can't wait to see what you make! xo
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful time! I'm sorry I won't be there, if only to be able to meet you in person.
ReplyDeleteAnd all of those patterns are divine!
