{Sew Grateful Week} Giveaways Part 2

Good news! There's even more giveaways to come...meaning a three-part post!

Thank you everyone for participating in the Sew Grateful Week!  It's really fabulous to see all the giveaways and the generosity (and thankfulness) for our community.   Even if you're not hosting a giveaway, you can still participate!  Check out the details here...  And if you missed the first giveaway round-up post you can check it out at this link.

Without further ado....onto the giveaways round-up part 2:

The Petite Mess Giveaway for Two BurdaStyle Magazines

I was thrilled when Mariló left a comment on my blog yesterday.  She heard about the Sew Grateful Week by participating in the giveaways hosted by Andrea at Four Square Walls and Sunni from A Fashionable Stitch and decided to host her own giveaway!  As Mariló says...

"I would like to be able to host a giveaway, but I don't have many followers, so I thought maybe I could make a tutorial, but I think I don't have the skills to do that. Of course I can write about why I am sew grateful, and there are a few things I have to finish that I can post on Saturday. Or maybe I can do everything but in a little way. So I've decided to make a little giveaway."
Up for grabs are the two Burdastyle magazines in Spanish pictured above.  To enter, just leave a comment over at Mariló's blog.  YAY!  I am so excited to follow Mariló and her sewing adventures over at her blog Petite Mess.

The Sew Get Dressed Giveaway for a 1940's Vogue Pattern

A fellow vintage pattern lover, Abby who blogs over at Sew Get Dressed is hosting a giveaway for this fabulous late 1940's Vogue gown pattern (size 14, 32 bust, 35 hip).  As Abby says...
"I love, love, love this pattern, but I have more patterns in my collection than I can reasonably expect to use in one lifetime. :) Since I am a firm believer patterns should be used, rather than stored until they turn to dust, I'm passing this stunning gown pattern on to one of you, who will be able to make it into something lovely and wearable."
And I have to agree..this pattern is STUNNING!  Here's what the back of the envelope says..
"Long or short length. three-piece skirt with straight or harem gathered peplum joined at waist-line. High round neck or optional collar band. Long fitted or short sleeves."
To enter this giveaway, leave a comment on the Sew Get Dressed giveaway post and let Abby know what fabric you would use to make this dress in and where you would wear it.  Also, since one of the things she's "Sew Grateful" for is the lovely support she's received in the form of your sweet comments, if you enter this giveaway by commenting on her post, you will automatically be entered a second time if you left her a comment on any other post (other than her last giveaway).  If you win, you cannot sell the pattern. If you decide at some point that you no longer want it, please pass on the sewing love to someone else in the form of a giveaway or a gift. The giveaway will be open until 7:00 am ET on Monday morning (February 13).  Good luck!

The Laugh, but Not Loudly Giveaway for Two 1970's Patterns

I love following Jill who blogs over at Laugh, but Not Loudly.  As part of the Sew Grateful Week she is offering up not one but TWO fab vintage patterns!  Here's what Jill says...
"I discovered the world of sewing blogs as soon as I started sewing.  I'm entirely self-taught, so I rely extensively on the internet to learn new techniques.  I was struck by the number of tutorials, sew-alongs and advice forums that are available from sewists all around the world.  The openness and generosity of the online sewing community are a constant source of inspiration and encouragement to me."
Jill's offering up a great Butterick jacket pattern (size B32 and 1/2) and a fun Simplicity dress (size B38).  To enter, just leave a comment on Jill's giveaway post about your favorite memory of the 1970s.  Don't remember the 70s?  That's ok.  You can also leave a comment about what you love most about 70s fashion.  The lucky winner will be randomly selected on Friday.

The Auxetically: A Sewing Journey Giveaway for Fabric

I'm super excited that Laura from Auxetically: A Sewing Journey is hosting a giveaway for 2 yards of this lovely fabric from Nancy Mims, called Blossom Stripe in Sunflower.  Isn't it pretty?  I also really love Laura's story of how she got into sewing...
"I started sewing in May 2011. As a software engineer, I spend the whole day at the computer (writing code) and I usually did the same at home too (but playing games)!

Google Reader got Laura into sewing
One of my favourite things to do is read news feeds - and the interesting thing about Google Reader is the "Explore" button: it shows you posts many people thought were interesting. The important thing here is that these posts are tailored to you specifically (according to what I saw on tech crunch anyway). At some point in January, I started getting posts about sewing. A few at first, but as I got more and more intrigued, more and more would appear.

As I went back to Romania over Easter and spent some time with my grandmother, a thought appeared in my head: could I get a sewing machine? I could do this stuff! She would be very happy if I would do this (she was amazed when I started cooking!). Think of all the pretty things I could make! Think of how I wouldn't spend my weekends playing computer games*!

The thought grew and by the time I got back in London I had decided: I would be getting a sewing machine. Now, you need to understand that I had never (ever!) used one before."
YAY for sewing blogs!!  To enter this giveaway, all you have to do is leave a comment on Laura's post telling her anything about you (she would love to hear what you would do with the fabric, but she say's "anything goes!").  The giveaway is open internationally until Saturday the 11th of February.  ___________________________________________________________________________

The Miss Crayola Creepy Giveaway for a Vintage Butterick Reissue Pattern

You may recognise Miss Crayola Creepy...she is co-hosting a fantastic sewalong called Sew Colette where she is making her way through all the patterns in the Colette Sewing Handbook! I'm hoping to be able to join in for at least one of the patterns...so I'm delighted that she's hosting a giveaway for the Sew Grateful Week.  As she says...
"I have a LOT to be grateful for when it comes to this amazing online community of sewers. From all of you I get inspired, support when I need it (which is a lot), kind words, and I have made new friends. I am so lucky!!"
She's offering up the Butterick Reissued 4919 pattern in sizes 14-20 (B36-42). To enter all you need to do is leave a comment on her giveaway post telling her what makes you "Sew Grateful." The giveaway will run until this Saturday, February 11th, at 6:00 PST and is open to everyone worldwide.

I just got this pattern as well...so I can't wait to see who wins!

The Krafty Kat Giveaway for Fabric

Kat who blogs over at Krafty Kat is offering up two metres (55" wide) of this delicious cotton lawn fabric! YAY!  I love following Kat's sewing (you should check out her Lonsdale dress) and you should definitely check out her blog.  As Kat says...
"In the year since I have started sewing and crafting, i have been really blown away by the generosity of the online sewing community. There is so much support available, and everyone is so quick to offer help or advice and to share their own experiences with people that they have never met. Bloggers are also eager to share the joy of sewing through giveaways and swaps. Special mention must go to the lovely Dibs, who so kindly sent me a pair of suede flowers after i admired them on her blog. Thanks Dibs!
Such a huge part of my learning this year has been through tutorials and sewalongs hosted by sewists who so generously offer up their time. For example, Tasia of Sewaholic Patterns provides excellent sewalongs which are so packed full of tips and information. I had no idea of the wealth of information available on sewing blogs, but I am so, so (sew!) grateful for it.
This year, I am keen to give back to the sewing community. So for Sew Grateful Week, I will be hosting my very first giveaway"
To enter this giveaway all you need to do is be a follower of Kat's blog, and leave a comment on her giveaway post saying what you are grateful for by Midnight (UK time) on Sunday the 12th of February and she'll pick the winner on Monday.

My Sew Grateful posts fell through this weekend due to work stress, but I'm still hopeful I'll get something together by the weekend. It's hard not to make time to tell this community thanks for being so spectacular. Thanks again for organizing this week. You rock!
