An Edwardian Picnic

Oh, how I wish it was warmer! These Edwardian picnic photos from Scotland are making me want to pack up a picnic basket and head up the nearest hill!  All of these photos except the last one are from the RCAHMS archives

This is a photo of my great grandpa and grandma (they are the smiling ones in the front next to each other) taken in 1907.  They look like they are having a grand time!

ahhh...I can't wait for some proper sunshine!

  1. Those folk know how to picnic. No floor cramp for them! They have a table!

  2. Ha, I'd be scared to death to eat watermelon in a white dress! We've had a few sunny but very chilly days... where's the warm spell we had in March? ;P

  4. Fantastic scenery and outfits. Are those umbrellas shielding them from the sun or the rain?! (Could be either in Scotland really)

  5. Fantastic! I especially admire the fellow under the tree, enjoying that bottle all by himself.
How exciting to have that photo of your greats. And it's in excellent condition. Just amazing.

  8. What amazing photos Debi. And how special to have a photo of your Great Grandparents. I like that your GGM's dress is ever so slightly different from the others. Not difficult to see how you have been so inspired when you have access to such great photography!
