David is very sweet and bought me Gertie's online course to make a bombshell dress! I was super excited to see Oona's version and to learn that both Stevie and Karen are making bombshell dresses!
So far I really like the Craftsy online format! Good for people like me that are normally rubbish with sew-along timeframes :)
Oona's post has a link for 50% off the online course price!!
Who else is planning on taking Gertie's course??
I'm taking it as well. I've watched all of the videos, and I now have my fabric, but I've yet to sew a stitch. I've used many of the tips and tricks from her videos in my most recent projects, so I already feel like I've gotten my money's worth. But, to get the most bang for my buck, I am going to sew the bombshell dress. My goal is to start in September.
ReplyDeleteWith the 50 per cent off, I think this course is a downright bargain. I'm really enjoying it so far, though am still in the early days. Can't wait to see what you do, Debi. You'll be va va voom!
ReplyDeleteI bought it and have lapped up every section several times. I must admit though, its going to be sometime before I am proficient enough at sewing to actually attempt the dress. The course is invaluable for showing different skills though. I love Gertie, she is amazing ! I cant wait to see your version of the bombshell ! k x
ReplyDeleteHow fabulous! I'm looking forward to seeing your finished dress. Va-voom! ;)
ReplyDeleteOooooh the more I read about this the more I think I'll have to sign up! It does look fab. Hmmmm...
ReplyDeleteYeay, so nice of David to buy you the course - I can't wait to see how your version turns out! I've bought the course too but I don't think I'll be able to start it until at least October...we shall see!
ReplyDeleteI've had some birthday money hanging about, just waiting for the right thing to spend it on and after much umming, ahhing and reading Oona's, Stevie's and Karen's posts about it, the course seems to be the best thing to spend it on (it was that or shoes!) Anyway, looking forward to see what you get out of the course, I don't think I'll be able to make anything until October :( but hopefully I'll find time to start something.
ReplyDeleteI've signed up! I haven't got started yet, although I've watched a few of the videos. I'm loving it so far.
ReplyDeleteHow nice of David to buy you this. I bought this too! I haven't started yet as it's winter here so there's plenty of time. I've seen a few bombshell dresses on other blogs and they are looking fabulous. Can't wait to see yours.
ReplyDeleteI signed up to it yesterday after much umming and ahhing. And I don't regret my decision at all! It's really well presented and clear.
ReplyDeleteI've been hearing some good things about Gertie's course. I've signed up for it, but still haven't picked the fabric to make it. I think I'm going to make it for my sisters wedding, but only if I manage to get my act together!
ReplyDeleteI'm doing it too! I've done the muslin and modified it a bit (Burda's plunging decolletés are a bit ... low). Now I've cut it in a busy floral print cotton, great to hide all mistakes. If that one goes well, I'll make it in a proper and fancier fabric next summer.
ReplyDeleteOoooo...cannot wait to see your finished version! That David - he knows you so well :)
ReplyDeleteI actually am taking the course, but not yet sewing the bombshell dress. I signed up because I knew it would cover a bunch of skills that I wanted for some current projects - using boning, bust fitting, waist stays... And it has been 100% worth it. So, I'm sure you'll create a knockout of a dress. I can't wait to see all the finished dresses!
ReplyDeleteOoh Debi, I look forward to seeing how you get on with it! I'm considering treating myself to it as a birthday present next month - will have to see how many pennies I have left by my birthday!
ReplyDeletei am just SO excited to see what you make-- smart david, that gift is really for him too; when he sees you in a bombshell knockout :)
ReplyDeleteThat's such a cool pressie, I too have signed up for the course, but I have been working so much I have not had to time to see the video's or even source fabric. From what I hear it's a very cool project, enjoy. I'm sure we all will.
ReplyDeleteOh so happy to see you are getting to make this dress. I cut out my velvet Bolero this afternoon, hope the adjustments I made work!!
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed seeing this pop up around the blogosphere, and cannot wait to see yours!!!
ReplyDeleteI am pretty darn sure R bought me the course for my birthday! I'll find out in just a few days :) Good to know it's a good format for those who can't, um, hang with the typical sewalong... I am a member of that group, for sure.
ReplyDeleteI'm rubbish atvonline classes butvwith so many great comments I feel I should try.
