And how about #9921 below? I LOVE the little blouse underneath the long flowing dress. I do not, however, envy the process of sewing all those teeny tiny buttons down the front (but it would be worth it, no?)

They are all gorgeous, but I adore the green one! (Those who know me will not be surprised by that!) I love the back panel, and the way the bodice gathers into it - stunning.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful collection of dresses! My favourite is the black one with a thousand buttons down the front, you can't help but look her up and down in that dress. Imagine if they were all bound-buttonholes? In fact, they probably are!

ReplyDeleteOh I love them all! But if I really had to choose -which I definitely don't want to do if I'm offered such fabulous dresses^^- I'd go with the purple one, I can't resist the drape and long sleeves combo.

ReplyDeleteThat green dress is amazing - both the back and the front. Slightly confused about the buttons down the bum though - doesn't that mean you end up sitting on them? Maybe this is a dress only to be worn swishing around looking fabulous at a ball or a cocktail party!

I love the back vew of the black - but I can't help being a bit disappointed about it's front - I think it would have been better if it was not so much the same style as the front. The green would look stunning!

ReplyDeleteI am so happy to have found you! Like you I am a vintage dress girl. I bought a singer (Red Eye)with a motor. I also fell in love with the singer featherweight. Beautiful in my sewing space! So today my step father gave me a huge chest with tons of rolls of japanese silk from the 20s and 30s that a family friend had. I cant begin to describe the thrill I had going through this stuff!!! I can not wait to get busy. But I need some ideas.... got any?

ReplyDeleteAlas, I never had 9919...just an illustration of the pattern from my 1939 McCall's magazine! It's an amazing pattern--I so WISH I had it as I would totally give it to you for the prom dress! I haven't seen it around either...I think it's one of the rarer McCall patterns! Sorry!!! Do let me know if you decide to draft it...I'd love to see pictures!
