Me Made May: Day 24

I'm getting lots of mileage out of my 1941 trousers.  Today I paired them with another Coldwater Creek jacket.  I just love the design on the jacket and it goes perfectly with the trousers.

Fabulous weekend and Me-Made-May day 18

I had a super duper weekend....  My best friend and her husband came to Scotland to visit us!

We had a fabulous time.....we laughed....

we walked around the countryside...

We went to the big city....

We visited historical sites....

We enjoyed some beautiful Scottish weather....

...and we just enjoyed our time together!  We even got an extra day together because of the volcano.

I am sorry to report that I didn't wear any Me-Made-May garments during the weekend but I'm back on track today bringing out the purple leaves skirt and matching top again:

Me-Made-May: Days 12 and 13

Yesterday I wore my bright pink Simplicity blouse and paired it with all black (except for my bright pink Ness wedges):

And today I am wearing the Simplicity trousers from the same pattern.

I decided I didn't want to fuss with doing my hair so I'm wearing a head scarf.  It was so easy, I'll have to do it more often!

Me-Made-May: Day 10

I've brought out my green DuBarry blouse again today.  I've paired it with a knit v-neck sweater and a grey pleated skirt I got ages ago at Ann Taylor.  I'm really liking this hairstyle with the front roll:

I'm glad to discover that the blouse is so versatile!

Me-Made-May Day 8: The Refashioned Shirt

I decided I needed a few quick wardrobe additions for Me-Made-May.   Since I am not the world's quickest sewer, I decided to refashion a shirt I already have.  I used McCall's 1521 (a very useful pattern) for the collar in view F (a basic peter pan collar).  I had to redraft the collar to fit the shirt (added approximately 4 inches).

The inspiration to refashion the shirt came from Gertie's peter pan collar tutorial but also from Casey's refashion of a plain cotton t-shirt.

The shirt I refashioned is a vibrant purple cotton long-sleeve shirt that I've had for awhile:

I added the peter pan collar and sleeve cuffs with some remnants left over from the purple leaves fabric.  Here's the whole outfit:

I cut the sleeves to 3/4 length which I like much better.

Me-Made-May: Days 6 and 7

Me-Made-May Day 6 consisted of my 1941 trousers being paired with more modern pieces:

Today I returned to a more vintage-inspired look and wore my 1940's skirt from the Hollywood 1521 pattern with my green DuBarry 1942 shirt:

The skirt is a bit wrinkled because I wore it all day at work.

A very tired day 5

Hello lovelies! Thank you all for the wonderful comments on my previous Me-Made-May outfits!

I'm exhausted today--I've had a lot of early mornings this week!

My me-made outfit today isn't really me-made.  I'm including the blouse because it's sort-of, kind-of, not really refashioned.  I really wanted a blouse with my initials on it--so that's what I did (or that's what I paid someone to do)...  But it's a blouse that was re-fashioned by me, so that's the reason I am including it in Me-Made-May.

Here's the ensemble:

I was too tired to wear contacts and jeans was all I could muster today!

Here's a close-up of the blouse (don't worry, you will probably see it again this month :-)

The jacket is from Coldwater Creek , my favorite store in the States for jackets and blazers.  I always go to their store in the outlet mall at the beach when I visit my family.  So much fun...

Me-Made-May Day 4: The bold and bright blouse

For Me-Made-May day 4 I wore my new blouse made from Simplicity 3688, the same pattern that my trousers came from.  I decided to take a risk and do the blouse in hot pink!  To say that I was ambivalent about making the blouse is probably fairly accurate.  Not only was I not to keen on the pattern to begin with, I wasn't sure if I could pull off such a bright blouse.  But I am happy to say that I really like it.  Though I think it would only work with the high-waisted trousers (probably why the blouse and trousers are in the same pattern!!)

What do you think?

This is my spring and summer color combo.  I'm building my spring and summer wardrobe around two pairs of shoes.  But not just any shoes, these lovely shoes from my favorite store Ness:

Here is more of a close-up (oh and I played with doing rolls in my hair!)

It looks REALLY pink in this picture:

I better get sewin' since I've almost worn everything I've made! hehehehe

Me-Made-May: Day 3

Thank goodness I've made trousers!  I have a feeling I will be wearing them quite a bit this month!  Today I wore my DuBarry blouse from 1942 and the 1941 Simplicity reproduction trousers:

I made a mini-turban wrap for my hair out of the same fabric as the blouse:

Another photo:

Need to get to those dandelions in the background...hehehe....they've just sprouted up over the weekend (weeding = groan).

MMM: Day 2

I had a lovely time out and about visiting the open day at several artists studios in our area:

On Day 2 of the Me-Made-May challenge, I wore my green and purple leaves skirt made from a 1950's Butterick pattern:

I paired the skirt with one of my purple tops and a vintage-inspired sweater that my mom gave me.

I experimented with my hair using a new set of hot rollers that David got me (awww...how sweet!)

It made me feel really good because I got loads of compliments on the skirt and on the hair!  YAY!

Happy May!

Happy May everyone!  Today is the first day of the Me-Made-May challenge in which I will endeavor to wear something I've made every single day in May.

Today, we are lounging with a capital L!  This month is going to be super hectic for David and I so we are relishing just spending some time doing whatever strikes our fancy!

So it would be appropriate that my first Me-Made-May outfit is my 1930's lounging outfit:

Here I am chillin' out:

Hope you are all having a lovely May Day!  I've had this song from Camelot in my head all day:
