Don't ask me what I'm doing with this pose. It's a mix between hostess and Martial Arts Sensei....lol. I'll go with 1960s hostess.
I've been dying to try the retro Burda Style patterns. Have you seen them? The last time my local fabric store had a pattern sale, I picked up Burda Style 7255. It's an adorable retro 1960s blouse pattern:
I finally used the amazing Liberty fabric that I picked up at the Crafters' Ceilidh meet-up. I just love the bright colours. The blouse pattern has the most amazing tucks turning into a deep pleats across the back. The back pleats get a little bit lost in the fabric print but I know they are there ;-)
I really, really, really love the collar on this blouse. It's such a cute 60s rounded collar.
The pattern instructions were very clear and straightforward and the sizing was spot on.
The bottom of the blouse has a separate band which is not completely on the straight grain, making it slightly tricky with a matching check design. I'm really happy with the blouse and know it will match a ton of things in my wardrobe.
Here's my attempt at mimicking the pattern cover pose (teehee):

ReplyDeleteOh, this is too cute for words! And the matching headband? YUP!! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd may I just say.... "Contestants, hands ready on the buzzer!" Definitely channelling a bit of the old Sale of The Century there I reckon :)
You make an adorable hostess.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute pattern, that plaid fabric is perfect for it :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous on you :)
ReplyDeleteOoh looks lovely - that fabric really is gorgeous. Plus - how did I not know that Burda do retro patterns? Not sure how I've managed to miss that!
ReplyDeleteThe top is absolutely adorable and it suits you very well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet blouse - that collar is really lovely and a nice choice of fabric too. I didn''t know Burda did vintage reissue patterns either!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a sweet and so-wearable blouse! You really do make such lovely things Debi!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! the fabric is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute blouse -- and I love the matching headband!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I love the fabric choice-- the fabric and pattern make a perfect pair!
ReplyDeleteJust lovely! I really like the color and the pleats in the back. I too, love the headband.
ReplyDeleteThat is SO cute!! The back is great, and it's a really fun and casual style. I love the check pattern too! I am glad I'm not the only one who can think checks or plaids would work with lots of outfits, either.... lol
ReplyDeleteThe blouse looks very nice on you, but I can't help mentioning (as a constructive comment only, and I am definitely not an expert) your bust darts look really high. I couldn't tell you what the problem is but they're definitely not pointing to your apex. The back of the blouse looks really neat though!
ReplyDeleteYou know I didn't notice this until seeing the pictures? Perhaps it's the boxy shape of the blouse but you're right....the bust darts are too high!!
Deletelovely! goes so well with your trousers too.
ReplyDeleteI'm so amazed at how the verticals on the back of your collar perfectly matches with the rest of the blouse!
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed that it the matching happened! I barely have any material left though....so it was a close call !!
DeleteThe top is so cute! And your hair is my dream hair.
ReplyDeleteawwww...thanks so much!!
DeleteIt looks lovely- and I love your matching hair-band ;)
ReplyDeleteOoo so cute! You look perfectly ready for a spring time picnic :)
ReplyDeleteI bought this pattern ahem, last year, and still have not opened it up. [holding head in shame] Your version is lovely and the headband too. This is the kick-in-the-pants that I need to get to pick out a fabric and get to work.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great pattern to work with!!
DeleteOoh love this Debi, that fabric is gorgeous! I've had that pattern in my stash since last summer but not got round to making it up yet, you've totally spurred me on to get it done! :)
ReplyDeleteThe blouse looks great :-) And also the matching headband... such a fantastic idea!
ReplyDeleteI stumbled across your blog and am looking forward to see your beautiful sewing. That blouse is amazing....well done! The house in the background is amazing too. I am completely inspired now to start working on my future wardrobe! Thanks for the inspiration! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's great! that fabric is perfect for it! are you in pilrig park?
ReplyDeleteYes! We took the photos in Pilrig Park!! Good spot! I love that wee park!
ReplyDeleteI just had to tell you that I absolutely love this make! I was skeptical of this pattern - those pleats look huge on the pattern illustration - but I love it now that I see it made up. Great fabric choice too!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Perfect match of pattern, fabric and model. Enjoy wearing it!
