Burda Style 7255: The 'Liberty Hostess' Blouse

Don't ask me what I'm doing with this pose.  It's a mix between hostess and Martial Arts Sensei....lol.  I'll go with 1960s hostess.

I've been dying to try the retro Burda Style patterns.  Have you seen them?  The last time my local fabric store had a pattern sale, I picked up Burda Style 7255.  It's an adorable retro 1960s blouse pattern:

I finally used the amazing Liberty fabric that I picked up at the Crafters' Ceilidh meet-up.  I just love the bright colours.  The blouse pattern has the most amazing tucks turning into a deep pleats across the back.  The back pleats get a little bit lost in the fabric print but I know they are there ;-)

I really, really, really love the collar on this blouse.  It's such a cute 60s rounded collar.

The pattern instructions were very clear and straightforward and the sizing was spot on.

The bottom of the blouse has a separate band which is not completely on the straight grain, making it slightly tricky with a matching check design.  I'm really happy with the blouse and know it will match a ton of things in my wardrobe.

Here's my attempt at mimicking the pattern cover pose (teehee):

  3. Oh, this is too cute for words! And the matching headband? YUP!! :)

And may I just say.... "Contestants, hands ready on the buzzer!" Definitely channelling a bit of the old Sale of The Century there I reckon :)

  15. That is SO cute!! The back is great, and it's a really fun and casual style. I love the check pattern too! I am glad I'm not the only one who can think checks or plaids would work with lots of outfits, either.... lol

  16. The blouse looks very nice on you, but I can't help mentioning (as a constructive comment only, and I am definitely not an expert) your bust darts look really high. I couldn't tell you what the problem is but they're definitely not pointing to your apex. The back of the blouse looks really neat though!

    1. You know I didn't notice this until seeing the pictures? Perhaps it's the boxy shape of the blouse but you're right....the bust darts are too high!!

  22. I bought this pattern ahem, last year, and still have not opened it up. [holding head in shame] Your version is lovely and the headband too. This is the kick-in-the-pants that I need to get to pick out a fabric and get to work.

  28. I just had to tell you that I absolutely love this make! I was skeptical of this pattern - those pleats look huge on the pattern illustration - but I love it now that I see it made up. Great fabric choice too!
