Mission McCall Mondays 9051-9060

A super big thank you for all your warm wishes on our anniversary post and for the lovely comments on the guest post I did over at Tilly's blog.  You really made my day!!!

This week's Mission McCall covers pattern numbers 9051-9060 and I've got images for all of them except one!!!  For those of you new to the series, my goal is to update the Vintage Pattern Wiki so that it's complete for all McCall patterns from mid 1936-1940.  If you have any source images for any of these patterns, email them to me and I'll add them to the Vintage Pattern Wiki! I'll be uploading them in big stay tuned!

Up first is McCall 9051, an adorable little girl's dress.  I found the pattern image on an amazing flickr set full of patterns.

McCall 9052 and 9053 are already uploaded into the vintage pattern wiki....

I am swooning over this housecoat! How delicious would this be in the winter?

I love these blouses as well...very classic cuts!

I'm missing the image for 9054 but have 9055:
I love this neckline...this would be fun to add as a refashion element to an already existing dress that maybe had a not so nice neckline....

Next up are 9056 and 9057....
I must say, I am loving the skirt on 9057!!

Now onto 9058, 9059 and 9060:
These are all really similiar!  But is that a bust dart in 9058 just below the pocket???  I haven't seen many of those so far!

Ok, I'm dying to know which is your favourite...Are you more a glamourous housecoat kind of gal, the safari separates, the puffed sleeve gown kind of gal, loads of buttons or the classic shirt?

Missing images so far: 502, 503, 505, 507, 508, 510, 9000, 9001, 9002, 9003, 9006, 9007, 9008, 9009, 9011, 9012, 9013, 9014, 9017, 9030, 9040, 9041, 9047, 9048, 9049, 9050 and 9054. If you want to contribute to the Mission McCall--just email me the images or pattern covers and I'll update them in the Vintage Pattern Wiki.  myhappysewingplace[at]googlemail[dot]com.

  1. Ooo! I love the contrasting buttons on 9058. A definite favorite of mine! :-)

  2. I love blouses!! *_*
    So chic and romantic :)

    Great vintage patterns!

  3. Love 9055...elegant but totally wearable.

  4. Oooh I love them all but I particularly love 9055 - that fancy neckline treatment is wonderful. I also love that housecoat - I would love to lounge around the house in something that glamourous - my husband wouldn't recognise me though!

  5. Ugh! You are doing a great job with all these pictures, I'm a fan of housecoats, no doubt ... comfort and elegance ... wow.

  6. Aww, I love the little girl's dress!

  7. I love the little girl's dress... so much so that I googled the pattern to see if I could find it. Maybe someone can explain why I find completely different patterns (with the same pattern number) than the ones that are shown here.

  8. I'm swooning in unison with you over those sublime vintage housecoats! I wish I could tap my heels and make one appear right this very moment! :)

Big hugs & joyful Tuesday wishes,
    ♥ Jessica from Chronically Vintage

  9. @thecurryseven...McCall (and later McCall's) reused pattern you'll see similar pattern numbers for late 50's, 60's and 70's patterns!

  10. I have to admit that I am irrationaly influenced by the colors of the dresses in the illustrations. I know that I could sew a design in any color, but I seem to be drawn to certain renderings and then they remain my favorites. So for me it's the red dress in the center 9059--but I can't imagine sewing a billion buttons down the front and getting them all even !

  11. I'm loving the shape of 9053, especially the short-sleeve version.

  12. Ooh, good luck! I'm pretty wowed by the last set of images with those amazing rows of contrast buttons, maybes it's because you don't see that kind of detail on modern clothing (aside from bridal wear) because it's too expensive to mass produce. So special.

Oh, I have a question, if you would indulge me. I was trying to hunt through your blog to see if I could find your post about the dress you are wearing in that little profile pic here on your blog, but I've got to get my butt off the internets or I'll be here all day! Would you mind linking me up to it, I'd love to have a closer look. It looks so lovely and fits you amazingly

  13. I never go for housecoats, although I must admit I could go for the long deep red one (9052) made in a heavier fabric as a winter coat, or in something silky as an evening dress.

I read each and every comment--thank you so much!
