Autumn Color Palette from 1940

Wow, it's hard to believe it's officially Autumn!  Where did the summer go?

The changing of the seasons always makes me think of my sewing plans and specifically what colors I want to focus on in my sewing.  Last spring and summer I really focused on pink and navy to match my two new (at the time) pairs of shoes.

Now, I'm thinking in terms of autumn and winter sewing and I still haven't decided what colors I want to focus on sewing.  So, I turned to some of my magazines from the year 1940 for a little inspiration.  These scans are from the August 1940 Vogue:

I like the use of neutral plaids and prints with a pop of color!

Though I also really like this color combination of blue and taupe:
I especially like that shade of blue--light and dusty....

Which is your favorite color combination?

  1. gray and magenta/fuschia/hot pink color! that's my signature combo actually. though lately I have strangely been really into navy blue.

I really like the olive green and dusty pink combo above.

  2. The top one with the spike of red! I'd like all those fabrics, please, fabric Santa!

  3. I love the gold/green/black from the first card and the pink/green/black from the second card. Lovely!

  4. I definitely like the brown with the yellow. Or gray with yellow; grellow!

  5. How fun!!! I never did no foresight of what I would sew the next season, that´s a very good idea!

  6. Oh, I love these colour palettes! Great for inspiration, thank you!

I read each and every comment--thank you so much!
