Ever since making my last dress, I can't get the iconic 1940 striped sundress off my mind! I am eagerly awaiting next summer to make some more striped sundresses! One pattern I would love to find is McCall 3580 which I have only seen illustrated in a striped fabric:
And here it is again:
The pattern also comes with an adorable waist length jacket:
Here's the actual pattern from Vintage Wiki:
Isn't it lovely?
This really is very you. Good luck with the hunt!
ReplyDeleteThat's adorable! And they really, really want you to make it in multicolor stripes, don't they. I hope you do!
ReplyDeleteI just love the stripes and the coral coloured jacket is just perfect!
ReplyDeleteDebi - very cute!
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Not being a seamstress myself (but slowly being inspired to give it a try) - I'm wondering if it's harder to sew with a striped print. Would you have to be more careful about how you lay out the pattern pieces?
- Susan
Hi Susan--yes, you have to be a bit more careful about laying out the pattern pieces but I've found it fairly easy (and even fun!) to try and line up the stripes!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, that pattern is delightful. I cannot wait to see how it turns out.
ReplyDeletethat pattern is divine!
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, I actually own that pattern. It's very nice, does have some very odd design details that you have to have the pattern to see. I suppose I should make it up one of these days.
ReplyDelete@drsue: YES! YES! YES! Do make it up! I bet it looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteDid you ever find this dress pattern? It would be so gorgeous to make!
