Thank you everyone for your feedback on my new blog layout!! I was able to make the blog layout narrower, hopefully that solves the problem of having to scroll. Let me know how it looks from your end!
Giveaway Winner
I'm very happy to announce the randomly chosen giveaway winner for the 1950's Butterick pattern is...
Tilly from Tilly and the Buttons!
Congrats! I can't wait to see what you make with it!!
What I'm Working On
For this first week in the Month of McCall, I'm working on a dress suit from 1937:
I haven't gotten very far but hope to make some headway on it today! What are you working on?
Lovely - I don't need to scroll right now, unless I want to read the right side bar, which is a normal enough thing.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Tilly!
I'm working on the January part of my Burda Challenge. Four patterns traced, and one skirt cut out so far.
I can't wait to see your next project, what a pretty looking pattern!
ReplyDeleteFrom Carys of La Ville Inconnue
Love the style of your 30s dress, i'm working on a second version of my recent http://sheepandchick.blogspot.com/2011/12/crazy-for-navy.html dress (also in navy) but in wool crepe and with long sleeves.
ReplyDeleteI've decided to start the year as I mean to go on, and plunge headfirst into my 2012 sewing goals!
ReplyDeleteSo I'm currently working on my first (REAL) attempt at sewing knit fabric. I'm hoping to make myself a black knit Pendrell blouse, but so far have only attempted sewing on bits of scrap jersey. Still! It was so much easier than I thought!
View B of that McCall pattern is just beautiful!
Your dress suit is going to be divine, I can tell :) The pattern is super lovely!
ReplyDeleteLove the new look to your blog, especially your sewing project links by decade. I have to scroll to see the right sidebar but that's not an issue.
ReplyDeleteThe 30s suit is beautiful, I'm sure you'll turn out something impressive!
I'm trying to finish up UFOs that have been hanging around for ages and also tweaking a toile of a 30s dress.
Oh this suit will look beautiful on you I'm sure, can't wait to see it. BUT when do you find all the time to sew with your jobs it must be difficult. As for my sewing I have several things going, a skirt with Petersham ribbon waist line, need to put zipper in and hem. My Nancy Drew amethyst suit, need interfacing and am held up on that, and my daughter's brocade dress fabric arrived yesterday and I can't wait to sew that up for her!! Plus many more lined up but that is what's at the head of the line. Nan
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pattern! Can't wait to see the finished result. :-)

ReplyDeletem sure your version is going to be spectacular! What types of fabric are you using?
Congratulations to Tilly - I am sure she will rock that style!
ReplyDeleteLove your new layout Debi, and your new project looks adorable. Now I'm going to search your blog for styling ideas for my new 1940's dress - I don't feel quite at home in it yet!
For now, I've switched decades and I'm making a sixties dress. I just got back from buying the zip, and shhh, some other things...!
I love that McCall's pattern, can't wait to see what you do with it!
ReplyDeleteI cant wait to see what fabric you choose for this pattern! I want to get a few vintage patterns and recreate them. For now, I am working on some belt and corset pieces for a hair competition I am entering. :)

ReplyDeleteI've cut out four wool skirts (four-gore skirts, just below the knee, meant to look 40's-ish) and started sewing one of them. I hope to be able to finish them in a month or so, and then I'll start thinking of spring clothes.
ReplyDeleteYay! I won I won I won!!! Thank you, Debi!
